Sunday, April 3rd, 2011

Sunday! I finally got a Sunday off, which is my favorite day to not be working. My lovely sister Veronica had Sunday off as well. We decided to meet up on the national mall, in dc and go to the Native American Museum. I have never been there before today, and neither had Veronica, plus we are both and 1/8 Native American so we kind of felt bad for not going until today. The building looked AMAZING!!! I loved the architecture and the interior layout of the building. My favorite level of the museum was the one that had all of the Native American modern art on it. It blew my mind away.

This was my favorite, I did not catch the artist name. Anyways , its a digital print. I was totally amazed by it! I thought it was a daguerreotype, or something like that, but no its a digital picture.

So on top of going to the museum we ended up all the way on capital hill. We ended up getting some clover coffee from the starbucks down there. If you haven't herd of the clover brewing method, the machine makes one cup of coffee at a time and it can be hot or iced. The coffee they let you chose from is the starbucks reserve coffee, which is the finest beans from rare growing regions. I chose to get a cup of 100% Kona, which a half pound of that costs $22.50 a pound! It was soo good! Then we walked down and around the cherry blossoms and there was like a billion people down and around the tidal basin. So, we decided to leave and walk up to dupont circle, and down and around P st. Along the way I  took varies different pictures of buildings, and it felt good. I haven't had the opportunity to walk around and take pictures like that in a while. I hope you all enjoyed your Sunday as much as I did. Enjoy the pics!

My Family

So I never thought I would become one of those blog people, but here we are two days in a row. I even thought about what to blog while I was working at my day job (Starbucks). So, I guess I am getting hooked again, which I hope will lead to me getting on with my photography again. I don't have any new pictures to show you all today.
What I do have is a book I was going to get made for my family. I kept putting it off and I it's half finished. It has been sitting on my desk top staring me in the face ever time I open up my laptop. It's even in a folder named "family book". Once I finally get on it with sending it out my mother is going to LOVE IT! Of course what kind of mother wouldn't like pictures of her family in book that one of her children have made. I digress, I opened the book back up on my laptop to look at the pages and it reminded me of all the good times we had together as a family. I live 45 minutes away from them, I no longer see them ever day or live 5 minutes away from them anymore. Since, I graduated college and I have been less busy I miss them more and more. I am the oldest out of 5, I have a sister that is 20, her name is Veronica, and then I have 3 brothers; Joey 14, Eddie 5, and Ronald(aka, Junior, June,Ronnie) 2. I feel like I have been missing out of seeing Ronnie and Eddie grow up. Every time I do visit my family Ronnie can say more and more, also his curls get longer too. Oh, I miss how silly they are, it almost makes me want some of my own sooner then later, but that will come in good time. I guess my mom decided to keep having them so Veronica and I would be less likely to have our own at a younger age. Well, I hope you enjoy my family! One last thing, If you could give me some feed back about this book or any other ideas for it, I would like to hear about it before I finish it. Thanks!

I'm Almost Ready

So, for the past few months, I graduated college and have continued with my day job. I have been thinking a lot about this photography thing as a career, I'm still thinking about it. I haven't committed to it just yet, but I am starting to blog again and go around the city taking photos, so I guess that's the first step. I went to my friends graduation this past Wednesday and I realised that I need to get on this photography thing, It is something I enjoy, and am relatively good at it. So now that its almost April, (and its warmer outside) Ill have more motivation, desire and drive to photograph.
After living in the city for 10 months its starting to grow on me, all the hustle and bustle. People rushing to and fro, people walking their dogs and babies. Also the diversity in DC, is amazing I have never meet so many different people from different backgrounds, it's enlightening to see and hear where they have come from and their point of view on life.
In future blog posts, I hope to share DC with you all, from my point of view. Also, I really enjoyed photographing architecture at night, and there is nothing like a nice spring evening outside. Also starting this week I am going to start going to muesums with my sister, we havent ever been close but we would like to be. So our first step is spending a day downtown. I really am looking forward to seeing her and spending a day with her.
So here to my future, I hope I make it, if not I have plenty of time (I hope). Thanks for reading!

Around Ust and Columbia Heights

My day Job is on Ust. I generally just go straight to work and go back home. I don't venture out and around that area. So one day I decided to take a little extra time with my camera and walk around the area. There is a lot of awesome architecture up and around columbia heights, and its about as diverse as the people in the streets. So I enjoyed this beautiful winter day and you can enjoy these photos.
